I review patients with Gastro-intestinal (Digestive System) problems and perform endoscopic investigations (Oesophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy & Colonoscopy). My Sub-Specialty is “Neuroendocrine (Carcinoid) Tumours (NETs)” and I am considered as one of the International experts in that field. I receive referrals from all over UK and overseas. I can provide Consultation in English and Greek language.

EXPERTISE

I completed my training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2004 and since 2007, I have been a Consultant at Royal Free Hospital, London, one of the largest Teaching Hospitals in the World with lots of expertise in many specialties. In my Gastroenterology Clinic, I review regularly patients with complex Gastro-intestinal problems, whilst our Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit is currently the largest in UK and one of the largest in the World with a cohort of more than 1,800 patients, under regular follow-up. I am lecturing regularly in several International Conferences and published many original papers and Reviews.

Dr Christos TOUMPANAKIS graduated from Medical School-University of Athens, Greece in 1994, obtained his Specialty Title in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in 2004, and his PhD from University of Athens in 2007. He came to Royal Free Hospital, London in 2005 with a Scholarship from the Hellenic (Greek) Society of Gastroenterology for Research and Clinical Skills in Neuroendocrine (Carcinoid) Tumours.

CURRENT APPOINTMENTS

Dr Christos TOUMPANAKIS is a Consultant in Gastroenterology & Neuroendocrine Tumours at the Centre for Gastroenterology & the Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit – ENETS Centre of Excellence, of Royal Free Hospital, London, since 2007.

He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College of London, and has been awarded as “Top-Teacher of the Year” in 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in UK and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
